Projects

Sustainable agriculture is a three tiered approach which is profitable, environmentally sound, and beneficial to family and community interaction. Sustainable agriculture must provide a fair and reasonably secure living for farm families; minimize harm to the natural environment; maintain basic natural resources such as healthy soil, clean water, and clean air; and support viable rural communities and fair treatment of all people involved in the food system, from farm workers to consumers.

Sustainable agriculture presents an opportunity to rethink the importance of family farms and rural communities.  In combination with other strategies, sustainable agriculture practices can help foster community institutions that meet employment, educational, health and social needs. WCFA through extension events and networking opportunities offers producers an opportunity to build networks with peers as well as exchange information on management practices.
